The sluggishness of Dirk, the prolonged action animations, the instant death enemies (most things just kill you), stage 3… (Oh boy), and if you made it this far… SINGE… it’s probably nightmare inducing…īut you know what? I actually enjoy this game! I like the idea of the memorization factor this game has going for it. The difficulty level ranges from game to game and in the end you know what you're getting if you played the originals, and if not realize you're playing with technology that was released 36 years ago.This game… you probably have horrible memories, or have heard horror stories about this game. Although there's not a great deal here for any newcomers to the series since the replay ability of this collection is limited. Thankfully the visual aspect of the game has definitely stood the test of time and playing through the 3 different games was a nice treat. The Don Bluth games have been re-released many times since then on many different platforms. The games playability suffers ultimately from the platform that it was created on, and for today's standard this is a trip down retro lane for people like myself. Dragon’s Lair first released back in 1983 as a smashing success because it offered players the chance to progress through an animated adventure for the first time as gaming technology hadn't reached the power that could be presented by this laser disc based arcade machine. It's just huge chuck of retro arcade goodness, and I couldn't stop until I collected every Achievement on it. You can adjust your skill level, and even how many men you have. You can watch the entire game played, and even every different death scene. I'd say even better because it's loaded with features like a step by step tutorial on how to draw Dirk. ![]() Dragon's Lair is just as amazing on consoles this generation as it was on the arcade floor at your local arcade. ![]() I've read some negative reviews on it saying the controls don't work from a another reviewer who I've noticed seems to give every Indie or retro game low scores, so I want to make it clear the controls work perfectly. They all look beautiful on today's consoles and the controls are spot on. Dragon's Lair delivers 3 classics in Dragon's Lair 1 and 2 as well as Space Ace. I was glad to see Night Traps get a re-release as well. I loved the 3DO when it was out games like Psychic Detective and Night Trap. I also was a huge fan of them on console.
